I am looking for a cheap lawyer in Chicago area who will be willing to do basic paperwork for Canada immigration. Please suggest.
The process is so simple, instructions on the website are clear. There is no need for a lawyer. Most people I know did it themselves successfully. I did it on my own too and I'm about to land soon.

Interesting comment on one of old BusinessWeek articles.It strongly highlights power an employer holds over H1-B employee.

Congress is perfectly capably of creating an employment category for foreign nationals that preserves freedom for the engineer who comes to America. They still haven't. Why? Well, the most likely explanation is that the corporations who lobby for this visa *enjoy* this power over engineers. And this, in turn, leads to work conditions that drive America's best and brightest away, into careers in law, medicine, finance, and so forth, exacerbating the very shortage that the visa was designed to address.
Unlike some of the posters here, I'm ok with the existence of skilled worker visas. But any increase should be off the table until basic human and economic freedoms are preserved for the worker. In America, you have the right to quit your job. Period. "

Isn't it the employer's responsibilty to file new LCA when I was assigned to another project in another state?
If my employer has not done that for me, then does it still affect my chances of getting my H1 stamped. Means I am not at fault, my employer is.

I filed I-140 and I-485 together in Aug 2007. I got I-140 receipt waiting for I-485 receipt.
I-140 - Status - Pending
Can I work in UK or Canada for some time?

Hi,
I am wondering if anybody had done this before: I want to work part time (20 hrs/week) for 6 months( and no other job). I am on H1 but I also have EAD. So I am wondering if there are any implications to this such as I need to amend my H1b , because of some obscure law my GC process will be affected. Any input is appreciated.

Depends on whether the role for which he is applying requires a PhD or not. Once again, consult a good lawyer.
Small addition to your post. EB1A does not require a job offer, but it needs the applicant to prove exceptional ability. EB1B (outstanding researcher or professor) and EB1C (multinational manager) do need sponsorship and a job offer.

Msians will be issued a visa the the point of entry. Commonwealth country thingy.
Spoken to my attorney and she says its no problem getting back into the US with a AP.
I use AP last year with no issues while going back to Msia for a visit. I guess i am paranoid about dealing with US immigration.
