It's been 9 years since I filed for my Eb3. July 2002. Jan 2002 is currently being processed. Do not see it coming to July 2002 .. based on the trends so far. (may take 2 years or more for all I know)
When I filed for my EB3 .. i worked in as a support engineer.
Am currently a manager (not support but Web Projects). SO my previous job and current one do not have a huge overlap.
Questions for th gurus.
1. Do you think I should apply for EB2
2. If yes .. how much time will it take for me to get the GC? (quicker than my 2 years to indefinite for EB3)
3. Can I get my July 2002 priority date for my EB2.
4. Am currently on eAD. So is my wife. Will applying in EB2 affect my EAD?

I am an Indian and I have been living in USA for more than one year.Right now I am on F2 visa(dependent of F1 visa holder). Recently I got my I-20 and Now I will have to get F1 visa in order to register for classes. I don't have enough time to get my status changed from USA.Please can somebody tell me what will be the procedure of getting visa from Mexico or Canada? And how long this procedure takes ?
Please somebody guide me ...I am really in hurry..
It will be very risky and very likely your visa will be denied (and you will not be able to reenter US), especially because it is the first visa and not an extension. F-1 applicant's must overcome presupposition of immigration intent, especially the first time. In your case (applying from Canada/mexico; spouse already in US), you will have a hard time to convince the IO that you do not intend to immigrate to US.
Note that H1-B does not have that problem: it is a dual intent visa.
I do have a friend who successfully got his F-1 extended from London. But he was a late stage Ph.D. student from a very well known school, fully funded by assistantship, working on a very hot topic and single.

my parents who live in India to visit me in the UK, then we all apply
for tourist visas for my brother's marriage in the US.
I have indefinite leave to remain in the UK but am not a citizen yet.

Hello All,
I have couple of questions regarding Travel Document or Advance Parole.
My EAD has already been filed by my Lawyer but she is charging too much for filing Advance Parole or Travel Document,so here goes my questions.
- Is there a way to file for Travel Document myself, without involving the lawyer and if yes how can i do that
- Do I need to wait for my EAD Receipt being sent to me before filing for Travel Document.
i did this exactly, where my lawyer filed my ead, but i filed my ap myself. all u need is i-485 receipt copy.

I am visiting to India on vacation and need to go for H1B renewal. My natvie place is in Andhra Pradesh, near to Chennai. So, i am comming from USA to Chennai, and wants to go to Chennai Consulate for stamping.
In vfs site the moment i select AP, it showing only Hyderabad appointment dates. how to choose and schedule appointment in Chennai consulate?
Can any of you suggest, how to proceed? is there any issues of going to Chennai rather Hyderabad?
I am resident of AP and went for my renewal last year to Chennai since its nearer to my place as compared to Hyderabad. There is no explicit way to get Chennai. They have a small percentage or limited slots available for out of state applicants at every consulate and as long they are available you should see the option to pick Chennai.
Initially, I did not get the Chennai option as well, but I kept checking and waited for a few weeks and when Chennai option was available I scheduled the appointment. Hope this helps.

There is a serious risk for the Democrats in forcing their members to vote
down an amnesty bill. That would undoubtedly alienate one of their core
voter constituencies.
If the SAVE bill passes, the likely result is that support for legal immigration reform will increase substantially. A number of members of Congress have said that they support legal immigration reform, but first want to see new enforcement measures put into place"

I (and my spouse as dependent) applied for I-485, AP, and EAD on July 17, 07 and am yet to get the receipt notice. My (and my spouse's) H-1 expires on 12/31/07 and I plan to travel out of the US between November 8 and December 24.
In case, the I-485 receipt notice does not come before we leave, would we be considered as having abandoned the PR application? Any idea how long it might take for the receipt notice to come for people in my shoes?

Your I-94 should be valid as long as your H1B is valid. If you applied for H1B extension they will give you new I94. It should be at the bottom of your 797, please check your H1B approval notice.
